Asian football glory
It was the greatest football show to come out of Australia when 16 nations participated in 32 matches across 5 cities to vie for the AFC Asian Cup – the second largest football tournament in the world behind the FIFA World Cup.
With an estimated television audience in the billions, we partnered with Gearhouse Broadcast and HBS to form ACBS—Asian Cup Broadcast Services— and produced and broadcast the event to the world, as well as domestically through Fox Sports.
The tournament kicked off with the opening ceremony and match between Australia and Kuwait at Melbourne’s AAMI Park. Matches were held across Australia with the final at Sydney’s Stadium Australia.
Host country for the first time, Australia enhanced its world-class reputation for creating innovative and spectacular broadcasting productions for major sporting events. Our AFC Asian Cup production was one of the great showpieces on the sporting calendar, with more than 250 crew, 20 cameras per match (30 cameras for the final) and multiple broadcasts in many languages.
